Within the traditional settlement of Gerani Rethymno.
The study was based on the reuse of the old café of the village, converting it into a tourist residence in order to accommodate more people, without losing the social and collective character of the space. The concept combines the traditional atmosphere with modern functional solutions, creating a single, warm living space that favours coexistence, comfort and the experience of "together".
Building description & architectural features
The building retains its original stone supporting structure and its arches, elements that highlight its historical identity. The interventions were made with respect to the existing shell, using natural materials, wood and warm lighting to enhance the sense of warmth. The special sleeping structures and built-in storage spaces allow for comfortable accommodation of more guests, while the layout of the rooms refers to the old café as a meeting place, bringing back the memory of the village in a modern form of habitation.
