"Renovate": grants up to 36.000€ for home renovation - The beneficiaries
The new "Renovate" programme, with a total budget of €500 million, opens, subsidising renovations of homes built up to 1990.
The subsidy can reach up to 95% for certain categories of beneficiaries, such as disabled people or single-parent families, and the subsidy can reach up to €36,000 per property.
The loans will be disbursed by commercial banks through the intermediary of the Hellenic Development Bank, which will be asked to manage €2 billion of loans from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The new "Renovate"
The "Renovate" programme will involve subsidising the renovation and mild energy upgrading of old houses which are either currently closed or owner-occupied but the owners do not have the resources to renovate them, and the process is expected to start in late May - early June.
The subsidy can reach up to €36,000 per property, covering up to 90% of the cost of renovation and/or energy upgrading.
The maximum amount is set at €300/sqm, and the scheme applies to dwellings up to 120 sqm with a building permit until 31 December 1990.
General renovation works will be subsidised at a rate of 60% to 90%, while energy interventions will be subsidised at 20% to 40%, covering approximately 20%-30% of the total cost.
The subsidy will be up to €300 per square metre for dwellings up to 120 m² and will mainly cover renovation works such as kitchen and bathroom replacement, replacement of windows and doors, electrical and plumbing interventions, as well as mild energy upgrading.
The energy upgrade can also result from the replacement of old air conditioners, with heat pumps or the installation of a solar water heater depending on the owner's needs.
The procedure
The process will start in late May - early June with an eligibility platform, along the lines of "My House 2", through which interested parties will be able to check if they meet the eligibility criteria.
Those found eligible will then have to proceed with the issuance of an energy upgrade certificate and the preparation of a building ID card, so that they can submit a full application when the application platform opens in early September.
